Anthony Mackie's 2025 action film "Desert Warrior" has unexpectedly climbed the Hulu charts in the US, benefiting from renewed interest in the actor ahead of his high-profile turn as the new Captain America in "Avengers: Doomsday". The film, often compared to "Mad Max", was largely overlooked on its original release but is now finding a second life on streaming as fans revisit Mackie's back catalogue in anticipation of the MCU's next major instalment.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt from a script by Erica Beeney and David Self, "Desert Warrior" casts Mackie as Hanzala, an honourable rebel bandit who clashes with the tyrannical Emperor Kisra, played by Ben Kingsley. The supporting cast includes Aiysha Hart and Sharlto Copley. Interest is being fuelled by the countdown to "Avengers: Doomsday", due out on 18 December 2026 alongside "Dune: Part Three", with Doomsday boasting a large ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal and Chris Hemsworth.
