Linda Cardellini has won her first Emmy Award, taking the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie prize for her role in HBO's dark comedy DTF St. Louis. The win marks a significant career milestone for the actress, who was previously nominated but had not won for her lead role in Netflix's Dead to Me. Cardellini appeared emotional accepting the award, calling it "a real dream come true" after what she described as an unbelievable journey.

The award was presented at Emmys Night 2, a rebranded version of the former Creative Arts Emmys, held ahead of the main primetime ceremony on 14 September, meaning her speech was not broadcast live. DTF St. Louis, which follows a love triangle between three middle-aged characters played by Cardellini, David Harbour and Jason Bateman, had a strong night overall, picking up six Emmys including writing and directing honours. The series holds 13 nominations in total at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, including a second Supporting Actress nod for co-star Joy Sunday, and is also up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series at the main telecast.
