Former MLB outfielder Eric Byrnes has revealed that a bat boy for the Oakland Athletics once impersonated him to pursue a sexual encounter with a woman, using a team cap and his mother's Cadillac Escalade to convince two women he was the star player. Byrnes shared the story on his "Deuces Wild" podcast, recalling how he confronted the bat boy afterwards but ultimately let the matter drop with a warning rather than any formal consequence.

According to Byrnes, the two women approached the bat boy at a red light believing he was the outfielder, and he chose to play along, later admitting the deception to Byrnes himself. Byrnes drew a comparison with a more serious recent case involving Bay Area influencer Daejon Love, who has been indicted in federal court over an alleged $1.3 million romance scam in which he is accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers player to deceive at least 26 women using forged banking apps and staged videos.
