Former Major League pitcher Thomas Pannone threw a perfect game for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds on Monday night, retiring all 27 Durham Bulls batters on just 94 pitches in a 3-0 win. The 32-year-old left-hander's feat is the first nine-inning, single-pitcher perfect game in Minor League Baseball since 2017 and only the fifth solo perfect game in the 142-year history of the International League.

Pannone finished with nine shutout innings, no hits, no walks and eight strikeouts, overcoming a tense moment in the ninth when he battled back from a difficult count to retire the final batter. The Milwaukee Brewers farmhand previously flashed similar brilliance in the majors, taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his Toronto Blue Jays debut and throwing an immaculate inning in 2019, before a journeyman spell with several organisations and a brief MLB recall with Milwaukee this summer.
