Ashlyn Nassif, the daughter of fugitive property developer Jean Nassif, has avoided jail after admitting she used a falsified document to help secure a $150 million construction loan from Westpac. The 32-year-old, a trained lawyer and former executive at her father's now-collapsed firm Toplace, was sentenced at Burwood Local Court to a six-month community corrections order. The case is significant because it ties into a wider corruption inquiry involving her father, who fled to Lebanon and remains the subject of an arrest warrant.

Nassif provided a falsified pre-sale contract to Westpac in 2021 to obtain the loan for three towers of the Skyview Apartments complex in Castle Hill, north-west Sydney, built by Toplace, a company since barred from construction work over defect issues. A separate charge of defrauding the bank was withdrawn. The development has also featured in the Independent Commission Against Corruption inquiry, where former Building Commissioner David Chandler testified he was threatened by Jean Nassif after halting the project over safety concerns, and where allegations have emerged of Liberal Party figures, including Charles Perrottet, seeking payments from Nassif in exchange for political favours.
