Former Conservative MP Nadine Dorries has revealed she was told by Thames Valley Police that a man arrested by them had created thousands of deepfake pornographic images and videos of her, using AI "nudification" technology to superimpose her likeness onto explicit content. The material had been shared online and tagged with her name, making it accessible to her followers, and she describes the experience as more violating than the abuse and stalking she endured throughout her political career. The case highlights the growing threat posed by increasingly convincing deepfake technology to public figures, particularly women.

Dorries writes that she learned of the images while out running errands, when her agent relayed a message from Thames Valley Police asking to contact her urgently. A female detective specialising in cyber crime informed her that a suspect had produced sexually explicit deepfake content depicting her, and that similar material had been made of three other female MPs and several television presenters. Dorries says the experience left her feeling humiliated and ashamed in a way that decades of political criticism and online abuse, dating back to her first election as an MP in 2005, never had.
