HBO Max has added Emma Stone's zombie-horror comedy Zombieland and its sequel Zombieland: Double Tap to its catalogue, giving subscribers a chance to revisit the franchise. Stone, now a two-time Academy Award winner for La La Land and Poor Things, made her breakthrough in Superbad before appearing in Zombieland alongside Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson, cementing her early standing as a major talent. The films remain popular with audiences for their mix of horror, comedy and heart.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the original 2009 film was well received by critics, including a positive review from Roger Ebert, and grossed $102 million worldwide from a $23.6 million budget. The 2019 sequel, made on a budget nearly double the original's, had a more mixed critical reception but proved popular with fans, earning an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and taking $123 million globally. Both films are now streaming on HBO Max.
