Pitchfork · 11 hours ago

Universal Pictures has expanded the cast of its upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, "Snoop," adding several performers to fill out key roles in the retelling of the rapper's early career. Among the new additions is SwayvoTwain (Michael D'Angelo Archer Jr.), son of the late neo-soul artists D'Angelo and Angie Stone, who has been cast as the Notorious B.I.G. The casting news continues to build anticipation around a film that traces the West Coast rap scene of the 1990s through Snoop Dogg's rise, with the project now backed by a strong ensemble.

Alongside SwayvoTwain, G Perico will play Big Reecie Cup and former child rapper Bentley Green will portray RBX, joining a cast led by Jonathan Daviss as Snoop Dogg. Directed by Craig Brewer and produced by Snoop Dogg himself alongside Death Row Pictures' Sara Ramaker, the film also features Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G and Tre Hale as Suge Knight. It is due for release on 6 August 2027 and will be the first film under Death Row Pictures' deal with NBCUniversal.
