The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) has donated $25,000 (£19,600) to the Black Film Hall of Fame, the Kansas City museum and cultural centre dedicated to preserving Black cinema history. AAFCA president Gil Robertson IV said the gift reflects the organisation's aim to support institutions safeguarding Black storytelling, while the Hall of Fame's executive director Shawn Edwards welcomed the partnership as recognition of critics' historical role in championing Black films overlooked by mainstream press.

Founded in 2003, the Black Film Hall of Fame works to celebrate and preserve Black cinema, while AAFCA describes itself as the largest collective of Black film critics worldwide, known for its annual awards and industry events. Separately, in the same news brief, Fathom Entertainment and Saga Arts announced a 4K restoration of "Donnie Darko" returning to cinemas on 2-4 October to mark its 25th anniversary, including a new introduction from director Richard Kelly.
