Martin Herlihy, one-third of the comedy trio Please Don't Destroy, is leaving Saturday Night Live after five seasons, primarily served as a writer on the sketch show. His departure follows that of fellow group member John Higgins, who left roughly a year earlier, meaning Please Don't Destroy's SNL sketches have already ended, though the trio will continue performing together, including through a live stage tour last year.

Herlihy is the son of longtime SNL writer Tim Herlihy, while Higgins is the son of veteran producer Steve Higgins. The group's third member, Ben Marshall, remains at SNL as a main cast member. Please Don't Destroy formed at NYU in 2017 and took over the show's Digital Shorts slot from The Lonely Island, producing notable sketches with stars including Dakota Johnson, Charli xcx and Taylor Swift, as well as a 2023 film. Herlihy has also built up an acting career, including roles in The Running Man remake and Happy Gilmore 2, and his exit comes shortly after Chloe Fineman's high-profile departure in July, ahead of SNL's Season 52 premiere on 26 September.
