Fantastic Fest is set to premiere Flapjax, a sci-fi horror-comedy from writer-director Rocko Zevenbergen that blends slapstick humour with body horror. The film follows Arrow Bentley, an overly devoted fast-food restaurant manager who becomes entangled in an alien conspiracy, offering a lighter, more comedic counterpoint to the body-horror tradition typically associated with directors like David Cronenberg.

Arrow works at Hamudders, a pork-themed New York fast-food chain, and is tasked with reviving a discontinued menu item called the Flapjax, only to grow suspicious about why it was pulled in the first place. Described by its makers as a mix of Looney Tunes, Troma and Brian Yuzna, the film stars Gabriel Cagan as Arrow, with a script co-written by Zevenbergen and Estevan Muñoz, who also appears on screen. Flapjax will have its world premiere on 17 September at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas.
