Woman left paralysed after daughter granted bail for stabbing
A Wisconsin mother, Kimberly King, 39, says she was stabbed roughly ten times by her 21-year-old daughter, Shyanniah Ma'ree Johnson, in a Chick-fil-A car park in Acworth, Georgia, following an argument during a family road trip from Florida to Milwaukee. King says the attack, which she claims has left her hands paralysed, has ended her career as a manicurist and left her needing help with basic daily tasks, while also leaving her afraid after her daughter was granted bail.
King told local media the fight began over her daughter's behaviour and escalated when Johnson allegedly pulled her hair and stabbed her repeatedly about the head, arms and shoulders; King fled into the restaurant, where officers already present called an ambulance. Johnson, who also sustained a leg injury, allegedly drove off afterwards with King's young son and grandson still in the car, but was later traced to Whitfield County and taken to hospital before being jailed; she faces charges of aggravated assault and two counts of third-degree cruelty to children. A Cherokee County judge released her on a $3,000 (£2,400) bond, and the two children are now in the custody of Georgia's Division of Family and Children Services. King has also drawn a parallel with her own mother, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and once stabbed King's grandmother, though she stresses her daughter has no diagnosed condition.
