Skyrim’s Wildest New Character Is a Talking Ikea Shelf, Voiced by Matt Berry
IKEA has released an official mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim called Kallax Storageborn, introducing a sentient talking storage shelf as a companion character, voiced by actor Matt Berry. The mod addresses a long-standing gripe among Skyrim players: becoming overburdened with loot and clutter, offering a novel branded solution that doubles as marketing for IKEA's real-world Kallax shelving range while giving players a genuinely playable addition to the game.
The free mod is available through Skyrim's Creations system on Xbox and PC, and begins when a player becomes over-encumbered, sending them to a dungeon to gather parts to build the Kallax unit. Once assembled and armed with a magical Allen wrench weapon, the shelf comes to life, can be summoned via a new shout ("IKEA!"), and lets players store loot that visibly appears on its shelves. It also comes with a full questline about the shelf's mysterious past, two IKEA-themed dungeons, a "Clutter Golem" boss fight, and extra items including an Allen Key weapon and a Meatball Helmet.
