Tom Wopat, born on 9 September 1951 in Lodi, Wisconsin, turned 75 this week, marking the milestone of a career that spanned television, Broadway and country music. He is best known for playing Luke Duke in the hit television series The Dukes of Hazzard, but he began his career on stage and went on to earn Tony Award nominations for his Broadway performances.

Wopat first performed in a university production of West Side Story before making his Broadway debut in 1977 in I Love My Wife, later starring in productions including Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun alongside Bernadette Peters. He appeared in The Dukes of Hazzard from 1979 to 1985, along with numerous other film and television roles including Cybill, Blue Bloods, Longmire and Django Unchained. His recording career began in 1981 with the show's soundtrack, and he later notched country chart hits such as "A Little Bit Closer," which reached number 18 in 1988; he has since released 12 studio albums and continues to tour.
