Soundgarden reunited to perform at the halftime show of the Seattle Seahawks' NFL season opener against the New England Patriots on 9 September, joined by The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen on vocals and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, who also opened the game with a rendition of the US national anthem. The event brought together several strands of Seattle's rock heritage in tribute to Soundgarden's late frontman Chris Cornell, and coincided with a tense home win that added to the occasion's festive atmosphere.

The band performed Outshined and Spoonman during the interval, while the Seahawks went on to beat the Patriots 13-10, having also defeated them in Super Bowl LX earlier in the year. Momsen has repeatedly stood in as Soundgarden's vocalist since Cornell's death in May 2017, including at a 2019 tribute concert and the band's 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, and has spoken of Cornell's music having a uniquely profound effect on her. Soundgarden members Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron have likewise collaborated with The Pretty Reckless, having featured on their 2021 album Death By Rock And Roll.
