National Geographic is launching "Africa: Earth's Wild Home", a seven-part natural history series billed as the first instalment in a multi-year franchise documenting the planet continent by continent. Executive produced and narrated by actress Wunmi Mosaku, the series was filmed over four years across nearly 30 countries and features never-before-seen footage, including black rain frogs captured on television for the first time, hyenas hunting elephants at night in the Congo, a rare wild African black panther, and chimpanzees using tools to fish for algae.

The series, presented by Rolex, premieres on National Geographic Channel on 2 October at 8pm ET, before streaming on Disney+ and Hulu the following day. Each episode closes with an "Explorer Spotlight" segment highlighting the scientists and conservationists behind the discoveries, while the finale shifts focus to the people working to protect Africa's wildlife. The series is produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit for National Geographic, with Courteney Monroe, the network's president, praising its "breathtaking, blue-chip landmark natural history storytelling."
