Snapchat has launched "Snapchat Plans", a new in-app feature designed to help users organise real-world gatherings and meetups of up to 200 people. The addition marks a shift for the app, which has traditionally focused on ephemeral messaging, and comes as Snap says more than a third of its core users already rely on group chats to arrange get-togethers, suggesting demand for a more structured event-planning tool.

The feature, accessible via a "My Plans" section on users' profiles, lets people create a dedicated space for organising events, sending invites through direct messages, and tracking RSVPs with "going", "can't go" or "maybe" options, alongside Bitmoji-themed cover art. Events are private, visible only to the creator and invited guests, though invitees can see the full guest list. Notably, Plans currently lacks the ability to add a location despite Snapchat's popular Snap Map feature, though a company spokesperson said this capability is being actively developed.
