Maven Robotics raises $100 million for warehouse robots

TechCrunch · 2 hours ago

Maven Robotics has emerged from stealth after raising $100 million to deploy autonomous robots for logistics and warehouse tasks, positioning itself against established players by focusing on end-to-end integration rather than single-robot problem-solving. Founded in 2024 by CEO Hamza Derbas and his brother Khalid, the company won its first major client by studying factory and warehouse workflows directly rather than pitching robot capabilities, beating out four rival firms with existing robots already in the market.

The company's wheeled, dual-armed robots can move at 10 miles per hour and lift up to 30 kilograms, primarily performing "mixed palletising" — rebuilding pallets of goods from various factories into store-specific mixes based on real-time demand, a task currently done manually. After two years working with its first client, Maven now runs as many as eight robots operating 16 hours a day with over 99% uptime, and plans to build 250 third-generation robots while beginning design on a fourth-generation platform. The funding round was backed by RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures and XTX Markets Ventures, with Derbas drawing on his prior experience in automotive engineering and Apple's secretive special projects group.
