Several people have died and others have been injured after a tourist coach carrying 48 passengers overturned on a mountain road in the Graubünden canton of eastern Switzerland. The crash occurred on the road connecting the villages of Susch and Zernez on Thursday evening, prompting a large emergency response with helicopters called to the scene. The coach, operated by Dutch tour company Oad, was carrying 48 passengers, all from the Netherlands, according to the Dutch Federation of Travel Agencies. It had left the Netherlands on Monday and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria when it left the road and flipped onto an embankment at around 8pm. Zernez serves as the gateway to the Swiss National Park, a vast Alpine reserve spanning more than 100 square kilometres. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains ongoing.
