Ahead of the release of the film "Pulp: What Do You Do for an Encore?", Jarvis Cocker and director Garth Jennings discuss revisiting the band's history in a hybrid concert film and documentary. The project matters because it captures a milestone moment for the Sheffield band, who split in 2002, reunited briefly between 2011 and 2013, and have now returned again with renewed commercial and cultural relevance decades on.

The film was shot at London's O2 Arena in summer 2025, on the same night Pulp learned that "More" – their eighth studio album and first in 24 years – had reached No 1 in the UK charts. Cocker, who turns 63 soon, initially hesitated over a second reunion, fearing it might spoil the "happy ending" of the 2011-13 shows, but was persuaded after a promoter described fans still singing along to Pulp songs at other gigs. He first teased the reunion on Instagram in 2022, prompting Jennings, a long-time friend and fan who had directed Pulp's 1990s music videos, to offer his help with the project.
