Singapore has selected "We Are All Strangers," written and directed by Anthony Chen, as its official submission for Best International Feature at the 99th Academy Awards. The choice, made by the Infocomm Media Development Authority's Selection Committee, marks the conclusion of Chen's decade-spanning "Growing Up" trilogy and continues Singapore's strong recent showing on the awards circuit through his work.

The film, set in contemporary Singapore, explores family relationships and unexpected life changes, and stars Chen regulars Yeo Yann Yann and Koh Jia Ler alongside Andi Lim and Regene Lim. It earlier became the first Singaporean film selected for competition at the Berlin Film Festival in its 76-year history. The trilogy's first two instalments, "Ilo Ilo" (2013) and "Wet Season" (2019), collectively won more than 50 international awards, including a Cannes Caméra d'Or, and both previously served as Singapore's Oscars entries. "We Are All Strangers" opened in Singapore in August, is currently screening at the Toronto Film Festival, and has North American distribution through Film Movement.
