Director Jonathan Schey has spoken about his feature debut "Everybody Wants to Fuck Me," a London-set film blending romantic comedy with thriller, horror and satire, which premieres at the Toronto Film Festival. The film targets "performative nice guys" in modern dating culture and stars Taron Egerton as Adam, a man who presents as a thoughtful, feminist, culturally engaged partner but is secretly a serial dater who ditches women after hooking up with them.

Produced by Studiocanal, Film4, LuckyChap and Parkville Pictures, the story shifts genres when one encounter causes Adam's desirability to spiral out of control, plunging him into horror-thriller chaos reminiscent of "Obsession." Schey chose Egerton for his ability to be simultaneously likeable and unlikeable, comparing him to Billy Crystal in "When Harry Met Sally." The supporting cast includes Jessica Henwick, Charly Clive and Mia McKenna-Bruce, alongside "SNL U.K." performers Paddy Young and Freddie Meredith; Schey says the idea partly grew out of a stand-up bit in which a comedian friend publicly dissected his own dating app profile.
