Marvel Officially Reveals the Hulk’s Replacement

Collider · 3 hours ago

Marvel has unveiled a dark alternate-universe replacement for the Hulk, as artist Alex Ross's new graphic novel *Marvel Dimensions* introduces "Reactor" – a version of Bruce Banner who detonates a nuclear blast around his body rather than transforming into the familiar green giant. The character appears in the "In-Verse", an inverted reality populated by corrupted, villainous versions of Marvel's best-known heroes, offering fans a twisted mirror of the mainstream Marvel Universe.

Unlike the traditional Hulk, whose destructive rage stems from Bruce's loss of control, Reactor knowingly wields his radioactive power as a weapon for an imperial version of the United States, killing opponents without guilt or restraint. The In-Verse also reshapes other icons, turning Spider-Man into a thief, subjugating mutants under X-Men rule, and making Nick Fury a cybernetic dictator, while classic Marvel villains become the resistance fighting back. The story establishes that Earth-616's Avengers have already crossed paths with their In-Verse counterparts via a contest set up by the Grandmaster, leaving open the possibility of a future rematch between Reactor and the original Hulk.
