Rising stars Chase Infiniti and Christopher Briney star in Niki Byrne's "The Julia Set," a coming-of-age drama about student mathematicians that premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival. Infiniti reveals the project has been part of her life for as long as the awards-season hit "One Battle After Another," which she auditioned for the same week and which propelled her to overnight stardom with BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. Despite her rapid rise, she and Briney both describe fighting hard to remain attached to this smaller, deeply personal project amid clashing schedules and prior stalled attempts to get it made.

The film follows Infiniti as Julia, a gifted mathematics student preparing for a major competition, who becomes romantically entangled with fellow student Pascal (Briney), the son of a famous mathematician played by Jason Isaacs. The cast also includes Gillian Anderson, Nina Hoss, Alex Dillard and Nico Hiraga, with Anderson playing Pascal's mother, who abandoned her own mathematical career. Infiniti, also an executive producer, delayed the shoot by a month to accommodate a clash with Hulu's "The Testaments," while Briney joined in what he called a "rush job" after the production had lost its previous lead actor weeks before filming began.
