Ricky Warwick, frontman of The Almighty and Black Star Riders, has shared a colourful account of an afternoon drinking with Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister, published in the new issue of Classic Rock magazine. The story illustrates the legendary and formidable reputation Lemmy had for hard partying, and shows the warm, mentoring relationship he built with younger musicians who idolised him, including inviting them into his personal circle during career-defining moments.

The pair first crossed paths in London venues such as Soho's St Moritz club before The Almighty supported Motörhead on their 1916 tour in 1991. Warwick recalls being summoned to Lemmy's hotel room during the Foundations Forum conference in Los Angeles, where he was greeted with drugs, a pint of Jack Daniel's and Coke, and an early listen to the freshly mixed 1916 album, with Lemmy continually topping up his glass until the room began spinning.
