A four-year-old girl in Kentucky, Hellayna "Layna" King, died after falling from a trailer attached to her family's tractor, which then reversed over her. The accident happened on 2 September on the family's farm and has devastated her parents and relatives, who say a nearby bridge closure significantly delayed emergency responders reaching the scene, forcing the family to wait with the critically injured child for around 45 minutes.

Coroner Neal Oliver confirmed the child's death, while her aunt, LaDonna Lovings, said the bridge closure may have added 15 to 20 minutes to the emergency response, though she acknowledged it is impossible to know if a quicker arrival would have saved Layna's life. The girl, who was due to turn five on 5 October, was remembered by her family as a joyful child who loved the farm's cows and singing. Her mother, Rebecca Lovings, has set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs and household expenses, saying the family has "lost our world" but must carry on for their three surviving children.
