Variety · 2 hours ago

International sales agent Parallax Films has taken on worldwide sales rights for "Aman," a short film by writer-director Rahul Roye about a trans man who discovers he is pregnant on the eve of his gender-affirming surgery. The deal was announced ahead of the film's world premiere in the Short Cuts competition at the Toronto Film Festival, followed by its European premiere in the competition section of the BFI London Film Festival, which selects just 10 shorts from around the world.

The 16-minute film is a UK-US-India-France co-production shot in Hindi and Bengali, executive produced by Nikkhil Advani and Dominique Welinski, and produced by a team including Apoorva Bakshi and Neeraj Churi. It stars transgender activist Kabir Maan in his acting debut in the lead role, alongside Sirat Taneja, Guntaj Deep Singh and Satakshi Nandy, and is backed by several arts and LGBTQ+ foundations. It marks Roye's third short film, following "Man & Wife" and "A Lullaby for Yellow Roses."
