Apple TV+'s three-season crime drama Truth Be Told, which wrapped up in 2023, is being highlighted as an overlooked series that blends the legal intrigue of The Lincoln Lawyer with the dark, Southern Gothic atmosphere of Sharp Objects. Based on Kathleen Barber's 2017 novel Are You Sleeping, the anthology-style show follows podcaster Poppy Parnell, played by Octavia Spencer, as she investigates murder cases, beginning with her guilt over having wrongly implicated a man in a 1999 killing.
