The 58-year-old singer became tearful as she opened the show with her French-language track "On Ne Change Pas", telling the crowd she had made a promise to return to the stage. Dion's career was disrupted from 2020, when the pandemic postponed her "Courage World Tour", and she later cancelled its North American leg in January 2022 while recovering from severe muscle spasms. She subsequently revealed a diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder said to affect around one in a million people, which caused muscle stiffness, difficulty walking and problems using her vocal cords. Since then she has shown gradual signs of progress, including a Grammy Awards appearance, a Prime Video documentary about her health journey, and a performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, before now embarking on her new residency featuring hits such as "My Heart Will Go On" and "Because You Loved Me".
