Netflix is expanding its offering of South Korean director Lee Chang-dong's back catalogue following the Silver Lion win for his new film Possible Love at the Venice Film Festival. This marks a significant moment for the acclaimed director, whose first film in eight years has now also been chosen as South Korea's official submission for the Best International Feature category at the Academy Awards.

Several of Lee's earlier films, including Green Fish, Secret Sunshine, Peppermint Candy and Oasis, are already streaming on Netflix in various territories such as the UK, Italy, France, Australia and New Zealand, with Poetry and Burning set to follow in markets including Japan, the US and Canada. Possible Love itself, starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, opens in South Korean cinemas on 23 September before rolling out to other territories through late October, ahead of a global Netflix premiere on 6 November. Lee, who debuted with Green Fish in 1997, has previously won Best Director at Venice for Oasis and Best Screenplay at Cannes for Poetry, and recently became the first Korean director to receive the Ebert Director Award at Toronto.
