The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a second British soldier has died while on operations in Ukraine, following what officials described as a "road traffic incident". This marks a further loss among the small contingent of UK personnel deployed to support Ukraine, and comes less than a year after another British soldier died in the country, underscoring the risks faced by those personnel despite not being on front-line combat duty.

The unnamed individual died on Saturday 13 September, though the MoD has not disclosed their unit or the location of the crash, and the family has asked for privacy before further details emerge. The UK has previously acknowledged deploying a limited number of personnel to Ukraine, primarily to provide security for British diplomats supporting the country's armed forces. In December last year, paratrooper Lance Corporal George Hooley, 28, died in unclear circumstances while reportedly "testing a new defensive capability away from the front lines".
