Netflix has confirmed three new screen adaptations of Sega properties: a live-action Crazy Taxi film, an animated Sonic the Hedgehog series pitched at young children but with "a little edge", and a live-action film based on Stranger Than Heaven, an as-yet-unreleased game from Yakuza developer RGG Studio. The announcement expands Netflix's growing slate of video-game adaptations and builds on its existing partnership with Sega, which already includes three seasons of the animated Sonic Prime.

The Crazy Taxi film, inspired by the 1999 arcade game and its 2027 sequel Crazy Taxi: World Tour, will be written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, the pair behind 2025's Naked Gun reboot, with Sonic franchise producers Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara attached; it will be the first of the three projects released, though no date has been confirmed. The new Sonic series is being developed by Carlos Stevens and Toru Nakahara for an "upper pre-school audience". Stranger Than Heaven, from Like a Dragon/Yakuza studio RGG Studio, follows a foreigner's rise from destitution to yakuza power and entertainment tycoon in early 20th-century Japan; plot details for its film adaptation remain under wraps.
