Jeremy Clarkson and Lord David Cameron have been credited with driving a huge increase in men checking their risk of prostate cancer after both revealed their own diagnoses. Prostate Cancer UK reported an 11-fold rise in visits to its online risk checker following the disclosures, a surge the charity says has directly saved lives by prompting more men to seek early screening.

Before Lord Cameron announced his diagnosis in 2025, around 2,000 men a day used the checker; this soared beyond 22,000 in the following week. A similar spike followed Clarkson's announcement, with daily visits rising from 8,425 to 51,000. Both men, now cancer-free, are calling for a national screening programme, urging Health Secretary Yvette Cooper in a letter to act rather than wait for further data while men continue to die of the disease.
