Norfolk's police and crime commissioner, Colin Sutton, has signalled he may scrap or scale back a 127-date theatre tour planned for 2027 after facing sustained criticism that it would clash with his official duties. The former Metropolitan Police detective had previously insisted he could fit the speaking engagements, about his career and titled "The Makings of a Murderer – Double Jeopardy", around his day job, but has now said he is in talks with promoters to curtail or cancel the run entirely, citing a need to maintain public confidence in his ability to do the job properly.

Critics, including Lib Dem MP Steff Aquarone and shadow policing minister Matt Vickers, likened the schedule to Taylor Swift's global tour and accused Sutton of neglecting a role paid around £79,000 a year in favour of a lucrative side venture, with tickets priced at roughly £40 each. The tour's dates reportedly clashed with official PCC panel meetings on several occasions, fuelling concerns about his availability. Sutton, elected in a July by-election after his Labour predecessor stepped down, has also faced accusations from figures including Rupert Lowe and Kay Mason Billig that he failed to disclose the tour before the election, though he is now considering alternatives such as video-conferencing for meetings or limiting appearances to venues closer to Norfolk.
