Meta adds new subscription tiers for businesses, creators and ‘AI power users’

Engadget · 1 day ago

Meta has launched a new set of "Meta One" subscription plans aimed at businesses, creators and heavy users of its AI tools, expanding on the paid features it introduced earlier this year for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The company insists its core apps and Meta AI will remain free, but is betting that additional revenue can come from users willing to pay for extra features and AI capacity, reflecting a broader push by tech firms to monetise generative AI tools that are costly to run.

The tiers range from $2.99 to $499 a month. Existing single-app plans (Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, WhatsApp Plus) continue, alongside new bundles such as "Core" ($7.99) and "Premium" ($19.99) that add AI image and video generation. Four further tiers target creators and businesses: "Essential" ($14.99) blends Meta Verified perks with AI agent access; "Advanced" ($49.99) and "Expert" ($149) add Stories scheduling, clickable caption links and delegated account access; and the top-tier "Max" plan ($499) includes the highest level of AI agent access plus unlimited human support and phone calls with Meta staff. Meta says more than 15 million people have already signed up for subscriptions or trials, and plans to extend the model to its Edits app and AI glasses.
