Police in Malawi are investigating the abduction of a British national, Nusrat Osman, who was seized in broad daylight in the city of Blantyre. The 47-year-old, a mother of two from Leicester who was working for a local auditing firm, was taken by four men travelling in a grey Nissan Dualis, and authorities say the motive remains unclear, with no contact yet made by the kidnappers.

Malawian police have offered a reward of more than $17,000 (£12,600) for credible information leading to Osman's rescue and the prosecution of those responsible. Her husband told the Malawi outlet Nyasa Times he was distressed and had no idea of her whereabouts or condition, adding that he had "no issues with anyone." The UK Foreign Office confirmed it was aware of the reports and was liaising with local authorities.
