Two prominent Arizona business figures, Charles "Chip" Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59, have died after their speedboat struck a peninsula on Lake Havasu and was launched into the air before landing upside down. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the pair were found unresponsive near the overturned vessel, and despite CPR from first responders, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their deaths have prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and friends, given their standing in the local business community.

The crash happened around 7pm on Saturday when their 36-foot Douglas Marine boat, travelling at high speed, hit a large piece of land jutting into the lake near Cattail Cove State Park, propelling the craft through the air before it crashed down inverted at a boat-in campsite. Luzzi, a mother of four, was a real estate agent with Keller Williams who also ran her own agency, while Romer owned Romer Beverage Company and was known as a keen boat racer. Investigators have not yet identified any contributing factors, and it remains unclear how the two were connected.
