E. No-Trump Hansen, an entrepreneur who legally changed his name from Eric Hansen to signal his opposition to Donald Trump, suffered a heavy defeat in Delaware's Democratic Senate primary. Hansen, a former Walmart executive who had run as a Republican against Lisa Blunt Rochester in 2024, switched parties and rebranded himself ahead of this year's contest, saying he accepted the personal risk because "the alternative is letting things get worse for Delawareans." Despite the attention-grabbing gesture, he failed to make any real impact against the Democratic establishment.

Incumbent Senator Chris Coons, in office since 2010, won the primary comfortably with 78 percent of the vote, while Hansen trailed badly on less than 4 percent, behind rivals Jeff Appelhans (10.6 percent) and Mary Louve (7.5 percent). Coons, a longtime ally of Joe Biden, is now heavily favoured to win November's general election against Republican nominee Michael Katz, another party-switcher who moved from Democrat to Independent to Republican and won his primary with 77 percent of the vote.
