Nicholas Brandram, a 44-year-old private banker arrested on suspicion of being the "Putney Pusher," has been found dead at his home in Chiswick, west London. He had been under investigation for the notorious 2017 incident in which a jogger shoved a female pedestrian into the path of a double-decker bus on Putney Bridge, and his death means he can now be publicly named for the first time.

Brandram, a director at HSBC's private bank and grandson of Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark, was arrested on 15 June and later rearrested after police found Class A and Class B drugs at his £1.4 million house. He was found unresponsive on Tuesday 15 September at 7.15pm; the Metropolitan Police say his death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious, with a file to be prepared for the coroner. A decorated former Army captain who served in Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan, he had previously appeared in court in 2013 over a separate hit-and-run involving a cyclist. The original Putney Bridge incident, in which the victim narrowly avoided being struck by a bus travelling at 12mph, remains unsolved.
