Four men who sprayed CS gas during a plot to steal luggage from passengers at Heathrow Airport last Christmas have been jailed, following an incident that closed Terminal 3 for hours. Tyrone Richards, Anton Clarke-Butcher, Omoneke Whyte and Denzel Eduardo all admitted affray at Isleworth Crown Court, with the judge describing the violence as "serious and sustained" and noting the group had deliberately targeted their victims to steal their suitcases.

The attack took place at 8am on 7 December, when three masked defendants sprayed gas believed to be CS spray into a lift containing two women who had just arrived from Johannesburg and two men who had met them, before the group followed the women to a taxi rank, threatened them and stole their suitcases, which were never recovered. The gas caused widespread disruption, affecting a nearby Caffe Nero and leaving several people, including a wheelchair user and a passenger with a 14-month-old baby, distressed and struggling to breathe. Richards was jailed for 27 months, Whyte and Eduardo for 23 months each, and Clarke-Butcher for 21 months.
