Napoli on the Road, a London-based pizza restaurant, has become the first British establishment to win the prestigious World's Best Pizzeria award at the 50 Top Pizza awards in Naples. Founder and chef Michele Pascarella, who is originally from Caserta near Naples, expressed shock at the victory, describing it as equivalent to winning the Oscars for pizza. The award is significant because it marks the first time a non-Italian pizzeria has topped the global rankings, ending the six-year dominance of I Masanielli, a Caserta-based competitor.

Napoli on the Road operates three restaurants in London locations (Chiswick, Richmond, and Soho) and has grown from a food van. The 50 Top Pizza awards judge establishments on food quality and overall dining experience through anonymous inspections. Italy dominated the rankings with 31 entries, followed by the United States with 22, across restaurants from 36 countries globally. Despite its success, Pascarella has rejected expansion opportunities, stating his priority is maintaining pizza quality and building relationships with customers.
