Apple TV's science fiction series For All Mankind has been renewed for its full intended run of six seasons and is receiving a spin-off called Star City. Co-created by television veteran Ronald D. Moore, the show has become one of the streaming platform's most acclaimed series by imagining an alternate history in which the Soviet Union reached the Moon before the United States, leading to a Space Race that never ends.

The series spans multiple decades, following characters and families across generations as they pursue space exploration in this alternate timeline. Whilst For All Mankind maintains a hopeful perspective on human cooperation, the spin-off Star City reframes the narrative as a political thriller told from the Soviet perspective, exploring the espionage, surveillance and personal sacrifices inherent to their space programme. Both the fifth season of the main series and the debut of Star City have recently been released on Apple TV, giving fans both instalments within the same period.
