Donald Trump has reportedly expanded plans for a proposed triumphal arch in Washington, DC, saying it will also serve as a military complex at the request of the US military. The proposed facility would support rapid deployment of drones and ammunition, while accommodating snipers, adding a major security function to the controversial monument.

The planned arch would stand 250 feet tall between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, though it has not received formal approval. The FAA has reportedly called for an eternal flame and floodlighting to make it visible to aircraft, while veterans, an architectural historian and planning officials have raised legal and heritage concerns, including the lack of congressional approval.
