I lost hours to this roguelike card-based city builder even though I had no idea how all of those words could fit together

Toxic Frontier is a card-based roguelike city builder set in a radioactive wasteland. Players expand across a hexagonal map, using settlement and terrain cards to create increasingly developed communities while exploring the fog and confronting hazards, making the initially unusual combination of genres surprisingly compelling.

Each level offers semi-randomised objectives and a limited supply of cards, requiring players to build efficient combinations and experiment with placement. Villages can be upgraded into towns and cities, while polluted areas and mutant attacks complicate expansion; the game has no announced release date but is available to wishlist on Steam.

  • Toxic Frontier combines city building, cards and roguelike progression.
  • Players develop settlements while battling mutants and pollution.
  • The release date has not yet been announced.
