Apple TV has rescheduled Jessica Chastain’s thriller series *The Savant* for spring 2027, after postponing its planned premiere in September 2025. The timing is still being finalised but is expected to make the series eligible for the 2027 Emmy Awards, confirming that Apple TV intends to release it rather than cancel it.

The series follows an undercover investigator, known as “The Savant”, who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent domestic extremist attacks. Its original release was delayed three days before launch because its subject matter and imagery, including sniper attacks, were considered potentially triggering shortly after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk; the cast also includes James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro and Pablo Schreiber.

  • *The Savant* is now set for spring 2027.
  • Apple TV delayed it in 2025 over sensitive extremist-attack imagery.

The series stars Jessica Chastain as an undercover investigator who uses the name “The Savant”. She enters online hate groups to identify threats and help prevent attacks by domestic extremists, alongside a supporting cast including James Badge Dale, Pablo Schreiber, Jordana Spiro and Cole Doman.

Its subject matter includes political violence, extremist organising and images of attacks, making the production particularly sensitive. The programme’s planned 2025 launch was postponed shortly before release after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, amid concerns that some scenes could be distressing in the aftermath.
