AMC has announced that the Cryptkeeper, the iconic host from the original Tales From the Crypt anthology series, will preside over this year's FearFest to celebrate the horror festival's 30th anniversary. The character will host segments throughout the month featuring both classic horror films and new original programming. This announcement comes as AMC and its streaming platform Shudder have recently acquired rights to the original Tales From the Crypt television series and made it available on streaming for the first time.

The Cryptkeeper's animatronic has been redesigned and refurbished by Greg Nicotero, the special effects artist from The Walking Dead, whilst original voice actor John Kassir will provide the character's signature dialogue and sound effects. FearFest programming will include Stephen King adaptations and films from franchises including Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Final Destination. Additionally, AMC is debuting two new horror series: The Terror: Nightmare in Silver, premiering this month as the third season of the acclaimed anthology, and the Canadian series Yaga, starring Carrie-Anne Moss, which debuts next month.
