A NSW Police senior constable, Beau Lamarre-Condon, is on trial for the alleged murders of television presenter Jesse Baird and Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies in February 2024. The Crown prosecutor outlined a case of unrequited love and escalating obsession, with the accused becoming increasingly controlling and jealous after Baird ended their short romantic relationship. The case highlights concerns about domestic violence involving controlling behaviour that preceded the alleged killings.

Lamarre-Condon and Baird met in late 2022, with the police officer quickly becoming infatuated whilst Baird—who had recently moved to Sydney—did not reciprocate the same intensity of feeling. The pair amicably separated in April 2023, after which Lamarre-Condon's behaviour allegedly escalated significantly, including surreptitious access to Baird's phone, deletion of messages, blocking of friends, and pretending to have cancer. In August 2023, Lamarre-Condon allegedly broke into Baird's home to steal his wallet and phone; the fatal shooting occurred six months later in Paddington. The 31-year-old has pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic-violence related murder and one count of aggravated break and enter.
