Taylor Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the 2026 Video Music Awards, recognising her sustained creative influence and distinctive directorial style. The new award highlights artists who have pushed visual and artistic boundaries, and marks another major acknowledgement of Swift’s work beyond music performance.

Swift has been nominated for Best Direction eight times and has won four times for “The Man”, All Too Well: The Short Film, “Anti-Hero” and “Fortnight”, more than any other artist. She has nine nominations this year, including Artist of the Year, while “The Fate of Ophelia” is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Pop and several creative awards. Hosted by Snoop Dogg in Los Angeles, the ceremony will feature performances from Madonna, Lisa, Raye and Shaboozey, with Nirvana receiving the Video Vanguard award.
