FF7 Revelation Will Fix One of Rebirth’s Worst Features

Polygon · 5 hours ago

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the trilogy's conclusion, will feature an optional auto-levelling system to address widespread criticism about Rebirth's bloated open-world. Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed the feature responds directly to fan feedback about excessive side content and lengthy playtime, allowing players to focus on the main story without traditional grinding. The system works by automatically raising the party's level to recommended requirements for story missions, making Revelation feel closer to the original Remake's more linear experience.

The game will launch on 8 April 2027 across all platforms and may actually be larger than Rebirth, containing around 200 GB of data. However, the physical release will arrive on a single disc with only partial data, requiring players to download the remainder—a significant departure from Remake and Rebirth, which shipped complete on multiple discs. Since PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X discs hold approximately 100 GB each, even two discs would have been insufficient for the full game.

  • Auto-levelling system lets players skip grinding and focus on main story
  • Game releases 8 April 2027; approximately 200 GB total size
  • Physical disc is partial; remainder requires download for full experience
