Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Include Option to Let Players Automatically Level Up Their Characters, but Not Everyone Is Happy About It

IGN · 7 hours ago

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will offer an optional feature that automatically raises characters to the recommended level when they are too weak for a main-story section. Director Naoki Hamaguchi said it responds to players who want to focus on the narrative without grinding through side quests, but critics argue it removes an important part of the role-playing experience and makes the game overly accommodating.

Hamaguchi explained that the game’s extensive side content could leave players underlevelled despite not being required, causing difficulties during key story battles. The feature is particularly controversial because Revelation is expected to be a large open-world game, with completionists needing at least 100 hours to finish everything, including exploration, side quests and different ways of travelling such as the Highwind and Chocobos.

  • Players can automatically reach recommended levels for story sections.
  • Supporters value convenience; critics say it removes meaningful challenge.
  • Completionists are expected to spend at least 100 hours in the game.
